Test to Stay
Test to Stay (TTS) is a quarantine option for unvaccinated students in PreK through 6th and staff who are identified as close contacts due to a school-related exposure to COVID-19. It aims to allow students to attend school and school-related extracurricular activities while lowering the risk of spreading COVID-19 to others. Fully vaccinated students and staff identified as close contacts do not need to quarantine if they do not have symptoms of COVID-19.
In November, Rhode Island completed a 30-day pilot of the Test to Stay Program in grades Pre-K through 6th in Westerly. Beginning on December 1, 2021, Rhode Island will implement a gradual approach to operationalizing TTS in additional districts. Students and staff who choose the TTS option for quarantine will get tested each morning for seven days before going to class and school-related activities. They must follow quarantine guidance at home and when outside of school settings.
Our focus is on ensuring a safe in-person learning environment with minimal disruptions, especially among those who have not had access to or have not yet been able to get fully vaccinated. Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for children age 5 to 11 is now authorized for use. School-based clinics, State clinics, community clinics, pharmacies, and additional providers that offer COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 5 to 11 can be found at VaccinateRI.org or by calling 844-930-1779 or 211.
Our goal is to keep students in school while keeping our communities safe.

- ✓ Review the Test to Stay Playbook.
- ✓ Review, sign, and submit the TTS MOU.
- ✓ Complete and submit TTS implementation plan

- ✓ Receive feedback and formal approval to proceed
